It'll open in January.

There was a lot of hype around KFC's high-tech drive-thru only restaurant opening in Australia.

The store has officially opened today in Newcastle, New South Wales, allowing customers to order their food through an app or on a board and then pick it up with ease.

There's no seating available at these places; it's purely just for people wanting to grab their food on the go.

But NSW couldn't hog all the fun.

KFC

The 'finger licking good' company has decided to open up another of these high-tech restaurants in Australia.

Chief Development Officer at KFC Australia, Inara Gravitis, has told LADbible: "We do actually have another one coming in January. It's just on the border into South Australia.

"That one will have four lanes instead of five, it's on a slightly smaller site but we do have a lot of our franchise partners really keen to see if it works; I think we'll see a lot of these roll out."

That is big news for those people near the Victorian-South Australian border.

It's hoped that this type of concept will cut down on uber long wait lines at drive-thru restaurants. No more sitting behind the driver who has just ordered food for their family of six.

KFC's Inara Gravitis added: "We are continually looking for ways to offer our customers even faster and more convenient ordering. KFC is committed to investing in technology and innovative restaurant designs. - so a delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken meal is only a click away!"

"Since launching the app in 2013, it's been downloaded more than 1.3 million times, making our customers' ordering experience as customisable, convenient and time-saving as possible.

If this is a big success, there's no doubt there'll be plenty of brands that will try to mirror the seamlessness of strictly drive-thru food. Think of all those stores that you see along a highway; they would be silly not to jump on this delicious bandwagon to get more revenue from us.

You'll still be able to order at the drive-thru section of this revolutionary KFC location; just in case you were worried you wouldn't be able to swing by because you didn't order through the app.

We'll all be waiting with baited breath to see how this plays out.
