British Woman And Italian Man Fall In Love Using Google Translate

Seems the tool is the modern day international wing-man

Do you believe in love at first sight?

If so, what happens when you make your inevitable move, only to find you don't share a single word of the same language?

Well, you speak the language of love, of course. But there's only so long you can have sex and share a thumbs-up before things start to go stale... though come to think of it, that doesn't actually sound half bad.

Fortunately, we no longer have to judge a soul by the ambiguous twinkle in their eye - we can get Google Translate to explain the gibberish coming out of their mouths.

Chloe Smith, from Wolves, UK, has the handy pocket translator to thank for helping her forge a relationship with an Italian man she met in a nightclub in Ibiza.

Google Translate helped the couple cultivate their mutual attraction.

Immediately attracted to the stallion, the 23-year-old approached Daniele Marisco, but quickly realised they wouldn't have a clue what each other were saying, even without the blaring tuuunage.

Unperturbed, the pair used the translator to communicate, as well as watching videos with subtitles.

A week later, they decided to go on holiday to Barcelona and now, two years on, they live together in Streatham in South London.

Chloe said: "There was something exciting about Daniele - the fact we couldn't understand each other wasn't a problem. We just clicked.

"I made the first move and asked him for his number because I just found him so attractive.

"Some people thought I was crazy when I went to Barcelona with him after only knowing him for one week but I just knew it would be the best decision I could ever make.

"Sometimes you must do these things for love."

The couple now live together and rarely need the help of Google Translate.

Chloe is now working as a make-up artist in the capital, while Daniele is a bartender in an Italian restaurant.

These days, Google Translate takes a back seat, as the couple have both learned each other's language purely by talking to each other.

Daniele said: "Chloe talked and laughed a lot, but I didn't understand. The only thing I understood was that she was special.

"We wanted to be together from the moment we met and that is why we worked. She helped me learn English and I have helped her learn how to cook Italian food.

"We have proved any doubters that we're meant to be.

"From the very start I had a good feeling about Chloe. She is my soulmate."

Just goes to show language is no barrier. Particularly when you're really good-looking.

Nathan Bain, engineer on Google Translate, was keen to highlight how useful the service can be in a person's love life.

He said: "The language of love requires no translation - but for everything else there is Google. FYI, we translate wedding invitations too!"
