Man who spent £12,500 to 'become a dog' explains why he wanted to be one

He spared no expense in his quest to 'become a dog'

A man who spent £12,500 to 'become a dog' has explained why he did it.

Many of us have splashed unadvisable amounts on fancy dress costumes, but a bloke from Japan named Toco took things to an entirely different level.

Watch him explain why here:

As you can see in the video, Toco spunked a wedge on an incredibly lifelike canine costume, and while the creation is undoubtedly impressive, the big question is - why?

Well, Toco decided to answer some questions on YouTube - in his dog suit, of course - and he explained that it's more than just a fun bit of dress up for him; it's a dream realised.

"I have had a vague dream of becoming an animal since I was a child," he wrote in the caption (dogs can't talk, remember).

"When I fulfilled that dream this is how it turned out. I've wanted to be an animal ever since I can remember.

Look, it's dog man.

"So what was the trigger? It is difficult to answer the question."

As for why he decided to embody a collie, of all creatures, he continued: "The reason for this is because it is my favourite breed and because of its size.

"I am particularly fond of cute quadrupedal animals.

"The fact that the size gap with humans is not large was also a deciding factor."

To be fair to Toco, who hasn't looked on at the life of a dog with envy? 'What should I do today?' thinks the dog, 'I guess I'll just sleep and play whenever I'm not being fed.'

They've got it worked out, haven't they? No renting, and commuting, and networking for them.

Fair play, being a dog does look fun.

Of course, buying one of these suits won't make you a dog, but it will set you back more than £12,000 in the rat race.

Toco purchased his costume from Zeppet, a Japanese company that creates sculptures and models for films.

Offering up a bit of an insight into the design process, the company said: "The point is that the skeleton of a dog can be reproduced on the skeleton of a human.

"Since the structure of the skeleton is very different, we spent a lot of time studying how to make it look like a dog."

They added: "In addition, we collect photographs taken from various angles so that the beautiful coat of the collie can be reproduced and devised so that the coat will flow naturally."
