Chilling moment pint glass explodes inside ‘haunted’ pub where man died

The unexplained explosion was caught on CCTV.

It seems the 'spirits' in this pub are more than just the alcoholic kind.

Misbelievers of ghosts from our tormented past who come down to punish us for our sins will have a hard time explaining this one.

Spooked staff at the Coniston Tavern in Nuneaton, Warks, say their pub happens to be haunted by a former tenant 'trying to steal drinks'.

Following a number of bizarre incidents, another unexplained explosion has been caught on CCTV.

The footage shows a workman in a hi-vis jacket chatting with two mates at a table on Monday (April 24) lunchtime.

Suddenly the half-drunk pint explodes, and showers the hopeless punter.

Similarly - four months prior - CCTV footage captured another drinker sitting at the same table where his pint glass mysteriously slid onto the floor.

Landlord Andy Gadsby says the locals think the pub is haunted by a former tenant called Dave, who used to live in the flat above.

“My wife and I have been running the pub for seven months but we’ve since been told it’s haunted,” Gadsby said.

“Apparently a tenant called Dave lived in the flat above the pub and one night he drank a bottle of brandy and had a heart attack and died.

“Maybe his spirit is around the pub and he’s desperately trying to pinch people’s drinks.”

Pub-owner Andy, 35, runs the shop with his wife Katie, 32.

They heard commotion come from the other side of the pub on the day the incident of the exploding pint-glass took place.

He added: “One of customers looked pretty wet with lager and he said the pint exploded in front of him.

“At first, I thought the glass might have had a hairline crack after coming out the washer and the cold lager caused it to break.

“If that had happened you wouldn’t expect it to explode and he’d already drank half the drink, so the glass was clearly cold.

“Going through the security tapes I suddenly realised that another customer had lost his drink at the same table in December.

“He had sat down at the same table and his pint looked like it’d been pushed onto the floor.

“It’s very mysterious and the two incidents have spooked people out.”
