A private investigator has come out to say exactly how modern people are getting away with cheating.

From letters in the old ages, to simple texts and apps that delete messages - there are so many ways to sneak around.

However, what you might not know is there is an app on your phone right now that is being used by many people to keep their affairs hidden in plain sight.

If you’re worried about having a cheating spouse, you might not have to Google careers which cheaters are most likely to choose, flick through body language analysis or even hire private investigators to do the work for you.

Instead, you should look on their phone, or your own phone if you have a shared calendar.

That’s right, the calendar app is the latest thing people are using to hide affairs.

According to Paul Evans from I-Spy Detectives, he’s seen more and more people use shared calendar apps to plan their secret meetings with other people.

While you might think it’s too easy to get caught out, it’s actually unlikely they’ll be busted because there are a few features that makes it hidden.

Or they could be sneaky and do these things...

"On the surface, it looks like a harmless dentist appointment or a work meeting, but when you dig deeper, those calendar entries are often a cover for something else. "We’ve uncovered cases where the same slot is used every week, always in a different location, and never with a trace of genuine work behind it," Evans said to Metro UK.

He says he's come across cheaters who have used 'secret codes' in the form of a work event to cover their tracks.

This could be a team lunch or a client call that’s been penned in but in reality, it’s their side piece.

As to why the app is becoming so popular, Evans said the calendar app is unassuming to most people.

They're far more likely to look at texts or pictures and not appointments.

Relationship therapist Kimberly Moffit, who posts TikTok videos under the handle of @ask_kimberly, said that work commitments are most common to see in cheating partners.

"Travelling for work is the biggest way that cheaters accomplish this time and space, whether they're actually travelling for work or pretending to travel for work," she said.

"And when they're travelling and you ask them how their day was they're gonna give you some big, long lengthy explanation about how their day was and what they did.

"They do this to placate you. They want to overload you with information so that you'll stop asking questions."

As for how you can really find out if they’re having an affair or being faithful, there are even more signs to be wary of.

He said: "If your partner always seems to be 'working late' on Tuesdays, but there are no calls, no emails, and no explanation, it’s worth questioning. Patterns are the biggest giveaway. You don’t have to go snooping, but you can start by asking direct questions. Most affairs unravel when people spot the little inconsistencies."
