If you've spent any time on the internet in recent years then you'll probably have come across the term 'gooning' at some point.
While the innocent among you might think this is something to do with Arsenal fans, I regret to inform you that it is actually the latest in a long, long list of strange sex trends that are taking over the internet.
For some reason, people have become way too comfortable sharing what they get up to in between the sheets with the rest of the world recently, with no care or concern for who might see it.
These days, it seems like the whole internet has tried swinging or soft-swapping, hotwifing or hamstering - well maybe not that last one - but in the world of unusual positions and television shows where people swap partners, gooning is actually relatively vanilla.
Essentially, it involves masturbation, either in DIY form or with a partner, and sees you continuously get close to climax before withdrawing and then resuming, which sounds like great fun for anyone who has far too much time, or perhaps lube in this case, on their hands.

Sex-pert Ness Cooper said: "It’s simply like edging but more intense. Edging is when someone slowly masturbates to the point of orgasm and then stops. In gooning, people are more likely to repeat this process over an extended period.
"Gooning is meant to put people into a trance-like state due to edging so often and so soon after each round. Standard edging can have more forceful stops, while gooning can feel more like teasing.
"For some, it can involve watching porn. Some may also carry out fetish tasks between and during stages of gooning.
"Some suggest it can lead to euphoric feelings from repeated exposure to feel-good hormones."
Gooning is bringing meditation to the bedroom (Getty Stock) She clarified that while things such as edging and gooning have probably been practised for a long time, it is only recently that the term 'gooning' has been coined, with it named as the UK's top kink in 2024. What an honour.
She explains: "Some dominants and porn producers started using the term on paid for porn sites just before the pandemic hit.
"At first, many used it as a word to humiliate their submissives more during a sexual act, by making it less personal to the sub and more about an action the sub does for the dom.
"There’s a lot of power play around words here. Now it’s used as a general term for prolonged edging even if you’re not submissive. It’s generally used by cis-men performing edging, however, more and more women are gooning now too."
