Your Creative Slate: Photoshop on iPhone Brings Desktop Power to Your Fingertips

Have you ever taken an amazing, jaw-dropping, going-to-make-all-your-exes-crawl-back-to-you photo of yourself...

But one tiny thing, like the lighting, has been off? Or there’s something in the background you need to get rid of!

But never fear - your days of suffering are over! Adobe has launched Photoshop on iPhone, which brings pro-level image editing and design tools straight to your phone.

For years, if you wanted to achieve iconic Photoshop-quality editing controls with images on your phone, you’d have to trek all the way home and boot Photoshop up on your computer.

Not only was it a bit of a faff, using that kind of gold-standard kit is a bit intimidating for us non-professionals (sorry!).

To celebrate Adobe’s 35th birthday, the company launched the iconic editing tool as an iPhone app (honestly, they’re such huns for that). Purpose-built for mobile interfaces, the digital-first generation finally (hello!) finally has the app in their hands, and it’s powerful, intuitive, and more accessible than ever.

And this isn’t just for fixing selfies. The new mobile app was designed with creators in mind, from aspiring designers making vision boards, fashion lookbooks, artwork for a new podcast - to illustrators and small business owners trying to break through.

Not just that, the app is super easy to use, sleek and user-friendly - meaning that all your photos can pop without needing to be a pro.

Never again will you have to delete that photo which might have been perfect if that seagull wasn’t in the background. Whether you’re designing graphics, curating mood boards, planning content for your side hustle, or crafting an album cover - the new app gives you limitless freedom and control, all from your phone.

So not only are we finally getting the Photoshop on our phones, it comes packed with new features.

Here are our faves:

· Generative AI Tools: Thought AI was helpful on your emails? Just wait until you check out Photoshop’s Firefly-powered Generative Fill and Generative Expand, which lets you add, remove or edit parts of your photos effortlessly. (And it’s safe for commercial use!)

· Tap Select Tool: Now you can change colours, remove distractions and replace parts of your image in seconds.

· Simple Layering & Masking: Easily blend, erase and combine images like a pro in just a few taps.

· Spot Healing Brush: Possibly our favourite part of the app. No more letting spots, photobombers or messy backgrounds ruin photos! Remove unwanted blemishes ruin your shots.

· Seamless Integration with Other Adobe Apps: If you already have an Adobe account, you can easily switch between Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Express, and Adobe Fresco to take your edits to the next level.

· Access to Free Adobe Stock Assets: You can even design from scratch with thousands of professional stock graphics, textures, fonts and design elements free to use.

Thanks to the new and improved app, you can design and edit images non-destructively using Photoshop’s unique tools for colour, texture, lighting, typography and layout - all optimised just for mobile.

Did we mention the app is free to use?! (Don’t worry, there are premium capabilities for those who want full creative control…we see you.)

You can download it now from the App Store, and the Android version is on its way later this year.

I don’t know about you, but we’re just relieved we don’t have to run home from brunch, Photoshop our photos on our laptops, and run back before the bottomless prosecco runs out anymore!

Thanks Adobe, and happy birthday!
