Actress and comedian Amy Schumer has revealed the grim side effect she suffered from while taking Ozempic.

Ozempic is currently very much in fashion among many in Hollywood's elite due to an active ingredient in the drug called semaglutide, which helps with appetite suppression, something which is very useful for those interested in weight loss.

The medication was originally created as a method of treating type 2 diabetes and is not licensed for weight-loss purposes in the UK at the time of writing.

Schumer is one of many celebrities who's tried the drug for its weight management side effects, and she was able to lose 30 pounds from the medication.

However, she definitely did not have an enjoyable experience using the drug.

Discussing her experience of Ozempic during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the Life and Beth star revealed that she'd been 'bedridden' while using the drug a few years ago.

"I have this gene, GDF15, which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy," she explained, after Stern revealed that he 'f**king hate[s]' Ozempic.

"I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was like, bedridden," Schumer continued. "I was like, vomiting — and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they’re all good."

The pair then commiserated over having unpleasant experiences on the medication before going on to list numerous supposed side effects, which Schumer joked were 'red flags' to her.

"You’re like, ‘Wait a minute. Can we slow down?’ The side effects are you have a better personality," she said.

"I tried it and I was vomiting and I’m in bed and my son’s like, ‘Can you play tag?’ I’m like, 'I can’t.' I was shrivelling."

The actress then revealed was able to lose around '30 pounds' from the drug, but the side effects meant that it wasn't worth continuing for her.

"I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow, so what’s the point?” she added.

This isn't the first time Schumer has spoken about her health and appearance in recent weeks, with the actress revealing that cruel 'moon face' comments from trolls led her to receive a Cushing's Syndrome diagnosis.

Explaining how she made the discovery after reading comments during an appearance on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, the 43-year-old said she connected the dots after learning the condition could be triggered by steroid usage.

"I was getting these steroid injections and so it gave me this thing called Cushing's syndrome," she said.

"I wouldn’t have known [about Cushing's Syndrome] if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard."
