Gillian Anderson caused quite a stir at the Golden Globes when she donned a dress decorated with vaginas and people are absolutely loving it.

This week's awards ceremony had all sorts of things going on from fun with Jennifer Lawrence, to less fun as some of the host's jokes didn't go down quite so well.

Also some people got awards.

Still, that's not as important as Sex Education star Gillian Anderson strutting her stuff like an absolute icon and doing what the kids these days would describe as 'slay'.

That's in part because she knows what she's about and owns it, but at this year's Golden Globes she also showed off her custom made dress.

Some fans didn't spot what was going on with the dress at first, but when they did they urged people to zoom in and take a proper look at the patterns stitched into the outfit.

That's a very stylish dress for the Golden Globes.

Vulvas, loads of them, all embroidered into the skirt of Anderson's dress for the Golden Globes.

The star took to social media to praise the work done by her friend and fashion designer Gabriela Hearst.

Writing on Instagram, she said: "So pleased to collaborate with my friend @gabrielahearst on this beautiful custom embroidered dress.

"Each yoni motif took about 3.5 hours to embroider and was made entirely in the garment district of NYC."

Anderson also posted a video of her in the dress, including a moment where she pretended to eat a sausage off a plate.

That moment ended up being part of another post she made where she posed with the sausage and also shared pictures of her getting ready for the Golden Globes.

"Sometimes you just need a sausage to go with your yoni dress," she wrote, and if you were wondering what the word 'yoni' means it's a Sanskrit word that means 'womb' or 'vagina' and refers to a woman's bits.

Naturally people were blown away by the dress, and multiple people replied 'mother is mothering' to Anderson's posts with her in the dress.

Someone else who really couldn't keep back their enthusiasm commented: "GOD THIS LOOK IS BREATH TAKING I LITERALLY THRIVE TO LOOK LIKE GILLIAN."

More said she was 'a true icon' and 'the coolest of the cool', while others thanked Gabriela Hearst for all the work she put into the dress.

When each individual vulva took three-and-a-half hours to embroider then that's some serious dedication to the craft.
