Simone Biles has given fans an insight after she reportedly 'almost died' earlier this week.
The US athlete is one of the most decorated Olympians of all time, with 11 Olympic medals to her name in total, while her 30 World Championship medals also make her the most decorated gymnast in history.
Throughout her career, Biles has established herself as pretty much flawless when it comes to gymnastics, so it's something of a surprise to learn that, like every other human, she is fallible.
And that was certainly the case earlier this week as she took to Instagram to suggest that she'd almost died, in 'one of the scariest experiences' of her life.

“I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age,” Biles wrote on her Instagram Stories. “But almost dying wasn't on my bingo card earlier this week.”
“This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life. Especially since Jonathan [Owens] was in Indy for practices," she continued.

Although she didn't go into much detail about exactly what had happened, the incident clearly left the 29-year-old feeling a bit shook up, while her friends were also clearly concerned as she shared some more images of the flowers she was sent.
“I've been in bed resting this week, I'll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers,” Biles continued on her Instagram Stories. “Loooovveeee y'all.”
However, it's not been the first time that the American athlete, who married NFL star Jonathan Owens in 2023, has had a health scare as she also opened up about the toll that the Paris Olympics had on her body.
“I went back to the village, took the elevator, and my body literally collapsed,” she told L'Equipe. "I was sick for 10 days.
“The other day, we were sprinting in the garden with friends,” she added. “I had aches and pains for three days.”

She also admitted on the infamous Call Her Daddy podcast that she also suffers from a condition known as 'Twisties' where she sometimes experiences a loss of spatial awareness mid-air, which is perhaps understandable considering the sheer amount of flips and twists they're performing.
“It doesn’t feel comfortable, I have no idea where I am, but I’m twisting, praying I land on my feet,” she said. "I felt like I was fighting my body and my mind to do these tricks.”
Fortunately, the gymnast is probably the best in the world when it comes to landing on her feet, so I'm sure she will be alright.
