Vera Wang, 74, shared secret behind why she looks so young

Vera Wang, 74, shared secret behind why she looks so young

The ageing process seems to have gone more than easy on the fashion designer

By the looks of Vera Wang, it seems like she's got her house plumbed up directly to the fountain of youth.

The fresh-faced fashion designer somehow doesn't appear to age despite being old enough to be eligible for a state pension in the UK, so naturally, people are desperate to find out her secret.

And rather than gatekeeping her methods for staving off the effects of the hands of time, Wang is more than happy to reveal which lotions, potions and diets keep her so youthful at the age of 74.

Wang was previously forced to confirm her age to fans who just couldn't believe she was in her 70s, as the ageing process seems to have gone more than easy on her.

But obviously, her hard work in the gym also plays a huge part in it - which is why she boasts washboard abs when most people her age are grasping for a walking stick.

The New York-born businesswoman previously told social media users that her recipe for a youthful appearance involved 'work, sleep, a vodka cocktail, not much Sun', and eating McDonald's.

Although I'm sure health experts wouldn't recommend this mixture for people wanting to live a long and happy life, it seems to be working for Wang - who admits she has quite the sweet tooth.

During an interview with Page Six in October last year, she claimed that she visits the Golden Arches 'every day' for periods lasting up to two weeks, before switching to another fast food joint.

The fashion designer revealed she is more than partial to a Dunkin’ Donuts trip too, explaining that her preferred pastry is 'a jelly donut, but it’s cream inside, vanilla cream'.

She used to also swear by drinking Diet Coke, but ditched it six years ago in favour of sipping water instead, although she admitted it was the 'hardest thing she ever gave up'.

Wang said she goes through 'phases' with what she eats and reckons it's all about balance.

"I like sashimi with brown rice and vegetables, Chinese steamed broccoli with chicken and rice, or the artichoke salad or fish from Sant Ambroeus," she explained.

"At one point I was eating a slice of Ray's pizza every day, and I never gained a pound on it. It's not a bad thing if you squeeze out that excess oil. It's so filling."

But obviously, Wang doesn't put her ageless appearance down to her devouring desserts and Big Mac's left, right and centre - instead, she reckons her high-flying job has played a more important part in it.

Dubbing her career a 'magic elixir', she explained: "Basically, I’ve worked my whole life, so it’s really been about work. I think work keeps you young and stimulated. I work very long hours, I’ve raised two daughters.

"I think keeping busy is the best antidote [for] good health."

Wang emphasises the fact that she isn't actively chasing a youthful appearance, but instead is just leaning into the natural ageing process.

"I never thought about going way out of my way to preserve my youth in a fanatical, obsessive way," she told BBC 100 Women in 2022.

Instead, a good night's sleep, a vodka cocktail and a busy working week are what Wang relies on to help her stay young.
