Pop wood elf Grimes has dropped a new song, 'Player of Games', which loads of people seem to think is about her billionaire ex-boyfriend Elon Musk.

With lyrics like 'If I loved him any less / I'd make him stay / But he has to be the best / player of games', it's hard to not make connections to her recent relationship breakdown.

'Sail away / To the cold expanse of space / Even love couldn't keep you in your place', is another set of lyrics that seem to point exactly to Musk's SpaceX project.

This one as well certainly points to Elon's busy schedule: 'I'm in love / With thе greatest gamer / But he'll always love the game / More than he loves me'.

Although Grimes first teased the track in July, months before she and Musk broke up in September, it seems likely their relationship was in decline before they eventually split.

Grimes and Musk were together for three years and have a child, X Æ A-Xii, together, who they will continue to co-parent.

Grimes responded to the breakup by getting more active on TikTok, where there has been a mixed reception for her videos about radical wealth distribution and communism.

Even if the song isn't directly about Musk, Grimes must have known exactly what she was doing with those lyrics.

This feels like the pop star version of posting very thinly veiled Facebook updates in the 2010s.

The real question here is how literal we should take this song.

Some have said it points to Musk's obsession with work and his inability to take time off to spend with his family.

While others have pointed to Musk's interest in video games and suggested the meaning could be much more literal.

I personally cannot move past the idea that Halo broke up Grimes and Musk, just like it broke up me and my university boyfriend. RIP.

Whatever the interpretation, it's been a great time to be a woman dropping truth bombs.

First, we had Red (Taylor's Version) and the 10-minute drop of 'All Too Well', then Adele gifted us with 30 which details the breakdown of her marriage and looks at her relationship with her son.

There's still a month left in the year, which is plenty of time for Camila Cabello to drop a response to Shawn Mendes' breakup track.
