People have been left shocked after watching Paul McCartney write a song on the spot.
I mean, come on, the bloke is a music legend.
One of the most successful composers and performers in history, the Liverpool-born star taught himself piano, guitar and songwriting in his teens.

And, of course, he then went on to be the bassist, pianist, co-songwriter and co-lead vocalist for The Beatles.
So, it seems a bit of a shock that people would be, well, shocked at McCartney’s musical abilities. But hey, the work of a true genius will always be impressive.
The ‘Live and Let Die’ singer was being interviewed by fashion icon Alexa Chung when he was challenged to write a song on the spot.
I mean, Chung suggested they were doing it ‘together’, but we all know who did the bulk of the graft.

“Off you go,” she quickly says after he happily agrees to the challenge.
“Oh, I’ve got to start it? There’s always a catch,” McCartney responds.
The legend then asks for a guitar as he says: “I must warn the viewers: this may be a very bad song because they don’t all come out good.”
He asks Chung to choose a subject for them to write the song about with the model picking ‘shoes’.
“Yes, let’s choose shoes – there’s a rhyme,” the ‘Hey Jude’ singer-songwriter says, proving his instant musicality.

After a brief bit of strumming, McCartney is quickly playing chords and providing a nice track for their shoes song.
And very quickly, he’s singing away: “Shoes. That’s what you gotta choose,” before probing Chung to ‘think of something.'
He encourages her to get away from the rhyme as she says: “I like high heels but I’m tall, so it makes me more of a giant.”
“Shoes. That’s what you gotta choose,” he sings again, “High heels for me but I’m tall you see, I need something to make me smaller.”

Complete with a high note and a mini riff, Chung says it was ‘amazing’ and comments online are equally impressed with his genius.
“He is so cool for doing that, he didn’t have to,” one YouTube user wrote.
“True genius… Paul took it all in his stride, made it fun and did not miss a beat,” another echoed.
A third pointed out: “Smaller: minor chord. Amazing.”
“She is so in awe and I don’t blame her,” a fourth wrote. “Amazing how the melody just flowed out of him.”
