A few of us have debated going old school and getting rid of all our subscriptions to streaming services recently.

With Netflix raising its rates and Amazon Prime introducing adverts, people have had their fill of on-demand services moving the goalposts.

But a lot of us can't stay mad when we see the latest series that have dropped and end up sticking one on.

Take the thrilling crime drama that landed on Netflix on Thursday (25 January) which is already taking viewers by storm.

Despite only being available to stream for just two days, the positive reviews have been rolling in as people have been binge-watching the new show.

It's also earned an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score too and has received a rating of 88 percent thus far - and the fact that Sofia Vergara has taken on the lead role only adds to the allure of it.

The Columbian actress, 51, channelled her inner crime boss to star as powerful Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco, who effectively ran Miami's underground cocaine trade in the 1980s.

The six-episode series, titled Griselda, document the Queenpin's brutal rise from the Colombian city of Medellín to becoming the party city's 'Godmother of Cocaine'.

Sofia Vergara puts on a stellar performance as the titular character.

Vergara expertly plays the part of the notorious drug baron who takes a no-nonsense approach to getting the job done.

The fictional dramatisation is inspired by real events and has given viewers a glimpse into the influence Blanco had.

Without giving to much away, she had a pretty chequered history - which included kidnapping, extortion, violence and of course a drug empire which spanned from Colombia to the US.

Viewers have already blitzed through all six episodes of Griselda as they just can't stop watching it, while others credit it with stopping them from cancelling their Netflix subscriptions altogether.

Speaking of her starring role during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Vergara said: "It is a true story of a woman that no one ever suspected of being one of the biggest drug dealers that ever existed.

"She created an insane cartel, and I went crazy for the story.

People have already binge-watched all six episodes of Griselda.

"She was Colombian, an immigrant, and a very tough ruthless woman. She was a monster. It was the role for me."

Social media users also reckon she was the perfect woman for the job and have been heaping praise on her and the entire series online.

One wrote: "Every now and then a show comes around to keep me from canceling my subscription to Netflix #Griselda."

While another said: "Griselda on Netflix is so good! Sofia Vergara killed that role."

A third added: "Netflix trapped me into Griselda and I can’t say I regret it."

And a fourth chimed in: "Griselda on Netflix is good asf, I finished the whole series in one night."
