I'm A Celeb's Seann Walsh explains why there’s an extra letter on his name

Sean spells his name like that for a reason.

I'm A Celebrity contestant Seann Walsh has explained the reason he spells his name with an extra 'n' - and you probably never would have guessed it.

The comedian was a late addition to the ITV reality series this year, alongside disgraced former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, with Seann admitting that he's hoping to 'move forward' after a tough few years in the press.

The stand-up's life was pretty much turned upside down following his 2018 appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, during which he became embroiled in the so-called Strictly 'curse'.

The Virtually Famous star had been partnered up with pro dancer Kayta Jones, and the two eventually got caught up in an affair.

While Katya Jones was married to dancer Neil Jones at the time, Seann Walsh had been dating actress Rebecca Humphries.

After Seann was snapped kissing his Strictly partner in public, his heartbroken girlfriend shared a statement on social media, breaking up with the comedian and accusing him of acting 'aggressively' when she had previously tried to speak to him about his behaviour.

In the scathing letter, Rebecca hid a subtle dig at her ex-partner, referring to him as 'Sean(n)', putting the second 'n' in brackets.

The letter quickly went viral, and while most people were caught up in the scandal, some couldn't help but wonder why Rebecca had referred to Seann like that.

If you think it seemed like a wisecrack, that's because it absolutely was.

Seann Walsh decided to add the extra 'n' to his name when he was a teenager.

That's because Seann Walsh's birth name is actually just 'Sean Walsh.'

The comedy star actually added the extra 'n' himself to add a some razzle dazzle.

In an old tweet, Seann even confessed that he had been inspired by his teen hero Seann William Scott, who famously played Stifler in the American Pie films.

Back in 2018, when a fan asked him about the second 'n' in his name, Seann explained: "At 16, American Pie was my favourite film. Stifler was my favourite character played by Seann William Scott. The extra 'n' was born. Do I regret it? Yes."

It probably says something that Seann Walsh based his stage name on Stifler from American Pie, but maybe it's best not to over-analyse that one. We all made a few questionable choices at 16.

Since entering the I'm A Celeb camp this week, Seann has already opened up about the Strictly controversy that he says has taken over his life for the last four years.

"Me and my dance partner, who was married — I was in a relationship — we were photographed kissing when we were on Strictly Come Dancing… that was the front page of every newspaper", Seann told Sue Cleaver on Thursday night.

"To be totally honest with you, my poor ex, my girlfriend at the time, posted a statement. My girlfriend posted a statement and that was the end of me."

Recalling the public apology he subsequently issued on The Jonathan Ross Show soon after, he continued: "I sat next to will.i.am and Samuel L. Jackson and apologised.

"That will forever be the weirdest moment of my life and I have to say probably the worst moment of my life."
