More than 200,000 people have signed a petition demanding that England's turbulent World Cup last 16 clash with Colombia is replayed.

Well, this is going to go down like a lead balloon.

The offending petition, which is written in Spanish and titled 'Review of the round of 16 game against Colombia VS England World Cup 2018', was started two days ago.

Gareth Southgate's team won a penalty shootout - which came after 28 years of penalty pain for England, so it was sort of a big thing.

But the petition argues that the Three Lions were awarded their second-half penalty for a 'non-existent foul' and that Colombian striker Carlos Bacca's extra-time goal should have been allowed to stand.

It states: "There were two controversial moves that were NOT submitted to review by the Video Assistant Referee 'VAR' which, had an enormous impact on the development and final result of the game."

The petition calls for FIFA 'to review these two actions, in order to set a precedent for fair play'.

Many would argue if things need to be checked it's that yellow card situation after the Jordan Henderson 'headbutt'. Just saying...

The initial argument is that Harry Kane's 57th minute penalty shouldn't have been given as they deem ex-Aston Villa midfielder, Carlos Sanchez, did nothing wrong as he wrestled Kane to the ground.

The second argument on the petition comes after Bacca scored after referee, Mark Geiger, had already paused play when Harry Maguire was distracted by a second ball that was heading for the pitch.

Colombia manager, Jose Pekerman, has argued that Southgate's side 'fall in the box' and blamed 'confusion' over the amount of physical contact tolerated at corners.

Argentina legend Diego Maradona claimed that the ref was to blame for a great 'theft'. He added: "I saw a monumental theft. I apologise to all the Colombian people, but they must know the players are not to blame.

"A man like that [Geiger] should not be put in charge of a game of that magnitude.

"The referee will know a lot about baseball, but he has no idea about football. The Colombian players asked for VAR and he did not give it to them.

"Twice the English threw themselves to the ground and he did not admonish them. This was theft."

FIFA responded to Maradona's comments with a statement condemning the his criticism.

A statement read: "Following comments made by Diego Armando Maradona in relation to Tuesday's round of 16 game, Colombia v England, FIFA strongly rebukes the criticism of the performance of the match officials which it considers to have been positive in a tough and highly emotional match.

"Furthermore, it also considers the additional comments and insinuations made as being entirely inappropriate and completely unfounded.

"At a time when FIFA is doing everything within its power to ensure principles of fair play, integrity and respect are at the forefront of this World Cup and how the organisation is now run, FIFA is extremely sorry to read such declarations from a player who has written the history of our game."
