Deleted Scenes From Mrs Doubtfire Will Tug At Your Heartstrings

A couple of deleted scenes from the classic Robin Williams comedy Mrs Doubtfire show that it could have been a hell of a lot more emotional.

Showing off the late actor's impressive range, one scene shows Daniel Hillard (played by Williams) having a heart-to-heart with his daughter Lydia in which she asks him why he and her mum can't just 'pretend to be happy'.

The heart-wrenching scene sees Daniel explain to his daughter: "I may act like a fool, but I am your father, OK? Always. Rain. Shine.

"That's the one wonderful thing in my life."

Right in the feels, eh?

And that's not the only deleted scene to bring a tear to your eye - in another Daniel can be seen arguing with ex-wife Miranda (played by Sally Fields) after she discovers that he's been Mrs Doubtfire all along.

As the two adults tear into each other, the camera pans up to the three children - Lydia, Matthew and Natalie - sat upstairs listening to the argument unfold with tears in their eyes.

The children eventually confront their arguing parents, with Lydia shouting: "I hate you both!"

The sad scenes would likely have completely changed the tone of the comedy flick, so I think it's easy to see why they were left on the cutting room floor.

In total there was more than half-an-hour of deleted scenes - many of which, including the two mentioned above, were featured on the 2008 DVD release of the movie.

They gained more attention after they were shared on YouTube in 2016, with people praising Williams for his ability to play for laughs or to get us crying in our seats.

The 1993 movie is as popular today as it was when it was released - so much so, that this year saw a musical version head to Broadway, with actor Rob McClure taking on the role of Daniel/Mrs Doubtfire.

He told Entertainment Weekly in a statement: "Euphegenia Doubtfire takes a village. I've got an entire Indianapolis 500 pit crew back there. My dressers and make-up team are superheroes.

"One of the most thrilling differences between the movie and the Broadway show is that we are doing this in real time.

"When Daniel Hillard runs into the other room and emerges as everyone's favourite Scottish nanny 18 seconds later, our director can't yell cut and send me to a trailer for five hours. We've got 18 seconds. I can feel the audience sweating with me! 'IS HE GONNA MAKE IT?!?'.

"The stakes are so high! It makes for electrifying theatre."
