Clarkson’s Farm season five shows that the Top Gear presenters Diddly Squat farm is a far cry away from when he took it over in season one.
Between Lamborghini tractors, the expensive bull Endgame, and the fact that Clarkson is on a whopping £160 million three season deal with Prime Video to produce the TV show.
Despite facing numerous problems in season five, including a horrible Bovine TB outbreak which led to the farm being put in lockdown, the farm is still in a lot better shape nowadays.
The Diddly Squat farm made a profit of just £114 in the first season, but between his successful pub, his farm shop, and the hard work of Kaleb, Clarkson is now able to farm the ‘only food on Earth more expensive than cocaine’.

In the second episode of the new season there is a storm which blows over some of the structures at Diddly Squat, leaving some of the sheep huddled under a makeshift barn made of hay.
When discussing where to put them with his wife, Lisa Hogan, Clarkson suggests they go in the new barn they’ve had built.

When Hogan says they can’t go there she explains: “I’ve got some snails in there I’m breeding.”
She goes on to show Clarkson 1,000 snails in a box she has been using to breed, explaining that the ‘slime’ from the snails is what she is farming. It is used as skincare and food, with Clarkson having spoken about how ‘snail caviar’ has become part of his diet after he gave up on Ozempic.
In a previous Sunday Times column, he said of eating snail caviar: “So you can pop a teaspoon of that onto half a Ritz cracker and you have yourself the 21st century’s answer to a mediaeval banquet," he explained.

He explained: "I think I’m right in saying it’s the only foodstuff on earth that is more expensive than cocaine.
"And normally it takes the sheen off the dining experience when you know that each mouthful is costing you £50. But when that mouthful is a meal, it’s not so bad. And that’s the genius of my idea."
Its price is so extortionate (£75 for 75g) due to the fact that the average snail only produces 100 eggs a year, making them extremely rare.
Health benefits and dangers
According to Global Seafoods, snail caviar has a number of health benefits, such as:
· Being high in Protein: Snail caviar supports muscle growth and tissue repair.
· Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids: This helps to promote heart health and brain function.
· High in minerals and vitamins: Some of these include calcium, magnesium, and essential vitamins for your well-being and health.
When it comes to risks though, there are some things to bear in mind:
· Parasites: Snails can harbour the likes of Angiostrongylus cantonensis (rat lungworm) among other parasites, which can lead to illness if eaten without being cooked properly.
· Bacterial Contamination: Snails can carry Salmonella and Listeria among other bacteria, which can lead to food poisoning.
· Poor preparation: As with most seafoods, incorrect cooking or handling can increase the chances of contracting a foodborne illness.
