Truth behind 'Gordon Ramsay's infamous disguise' for one of his cooking shows

Truth behind 'Gordon Ramsay's infamous disguise' for one of his cooking shows

The celebrity chef managed to conceal his identity with a series of hilarious disguises.

We're all aware that Gordon Ramsay knows his way around the kitchen, but he appears to be quite handy with a makeup bag too.

The chef is renowned for his terrifying demeanour, no-holds-barred critiques and hilarious one-liners.

But underneath his tough exterior, he is actually a fun-loving father-of-five with a penchant for dressing up.

However, there's more than meets the eye to one of his most infamous 'disguises'.

Ramsay is today celebrating his 57th birthday and an army of his fans have been flooding social media with messages.

And while wishing him many happy returns, one fan decided to pay tribute to his many achievements as a 'chef, restaurateur, writer, presenter and master of disguise'.

The TV star has a number of hit shows under his belt, including his US series 24 Hours to Hell and Back.

He visited failing restaurants in his 70ft long 'Hell on Wheels' truck which doubles as a state-of-the-art mobile kitchen and had just a day and a night to turn their fortunes around.

But he obviously had to do some reconnaissance before just barging in and telling business owners they're rubbish.

So the Scotsman decided to don a number of disguises to ensure he would go unnoticed in the restaurants and wouldn't get any special treatment.

The Hell's Kitchen king once hilariously donned a hairy biker costume - complete with a fake moustache, long brown hair and a leather waistcoat.

Ramsay really committed to his bit and even sported sideburns, leather boots and a beanie on his head for the occasion.

After being spruced up by his makeup team and finishing his look with dark sunglasses, he declared he was going to 'raise some hell'.

Even though it was well executed, it was fairly tame for Ramsay.

He upped his game even more for his next restaurant visit and became 'one of the ladies' with his alter-ego 'Libby Lou'.

The chef concealed his identity to ensure the element of surprise.

The chef had a full face of makeup - including eye shadow and pink lipstick - to ensure he blended in with a gang of women.

Ramsay wore a blonde wig and an ornate yellow hat, leaving fans confusing the show with RuPaul's Drag Race.

He had a cleavage that would have given Katie Price a run for her money after he slipped on a huge stuffed bra.

Ramsay comically FaceTimed two of his children in the episode who were stunned to see their dad in drag.

But there's more than meets the eye to one of Ramsay's most iconic disguises - an airline pilot made out in terrifying prosthetics.

Even though he wasn't the man underneath the prosthetics, fans think the pilot stunt was Ramsay's best work.

You see, the restaurant tycoon had to change his tactics after people taking part on his show got wind of the fact that he had been donning disguises.

He still wore one - but also sent a decoy in alongside him to throw people off the scent.

Ramsay hid behind a big bushy beard and a baseball cap while a bloke donning frightening prosthetics took the heat for him.

It meant the chef could critique the restaurant in peace while diners thought his co-star - who he dubbed 'leather face James' - was actually him.

When it was time for the big reveal, this obviously led to a hilarious moment where nobody recognised the pilot.

Ramsay then peeled off his fake beard - and even though his part was simple, fans think it was one of his best disguises.

The dad's fondness for dressing up extends further than the realm of TV shows too.

Ramsay underwent a dramatic transformation for New Year in 2020 as he wanted to welcome it in while looking like a grandmother.

His short blonde locks were hidden beneath a grey wig, while he added a pair of glasses, pearl earrings and a chunky cardigan.

The restaurant tycoon shared a video on social media clutching a white handbag and walking stick which proved a hit with fans.

If the restaurant game ever fails Ramsay, at least he's got a few tricks up his sleeve.
