There's nothing better than the new season of a series you love being released and it exceeding your expectations.

Brits tuning into a gripping crime thriller on ITV have got that exact buzz after watching the latest action-packed episodes that have landed on the small screen.

The first episode of only premiered on 28 January but fans are already hooked on the fresh storyline, with some already admitting they are going to struggle to wait until each Sunday to watch it on a weekly basis.

Take a look at the trailer here:

Luckily for the impatient lot, the entirety of the new season has already landed on the broadcaster's streaming service, ITVX, so you can binge-watch it all there as we speak.

Viewers can't stop talking about the show, called Trigger Point, after being blown away by all the drama that's brimming in each episode, as well as the fact that Vicky McClure, Nabil Elouahabi, Eric Shango, Mark Stanley, Kerry Godliman, Kris Hitchen and Kevin Eldon are all returning to reprise their hit roles.

People had pretty high expectations for the second series after being left 'in shock' by the finale of the last one and it seems the cast have outdone themselves if social media reviews are anything to go by.

Vicky McClure returns as bomb disposal officer Lana Washington.

McClure, who is back to play Met Police explosives officer Lana Washington, previously said they were all 'so pleased to be back' to film together after getting such a 'great response' to the first instalment of Trigger Point.

She added: "The scripts are filled to the brim with twists, turns, those explosive moments and along with our returning cast and brilliant new cast members it’s set to be an exciting shoot!"

In the first episode, her character has just returned to London from a secondment in Estonia where she was training troops heading to the frontline in Ukraine and she hosts a talk regarding the terror threat facing the UK capital.

But her presentation is interrupted by a pretty big problem - an explosion has just rocked the heart of the city just minutes from where she is and of course Washington ends up at the centre of it all.

The second season of Trigger Point has gone down a treat with fans.

The initial episodes also feature some pretty graphic and grisly scenes too - including a moment in the second one where someone was brutally murdered as the blast expert watches on helplessly.

The bomb disposal officer chillingly enters a house to find a woman named Zara who has been tied up with a collar bomb strapped around her neck.

She desperately tries to free the woman but accidentally triggered the countdown - and time runs out before Washington can save her. Although she walked away unscathed, the experience takes a toll on her emotionally.

Viewers couldn't believe how 'graphic' the suspense-filled scenes were, with some comparing it to 'something out of a horror movie' - suggesting ITV have really stepped up their game for Trigger Point season two.
