Brits are being urged to invest in the Fire TV Stick 4K Select amid a crackdown on 'dodgy fire sticks'.

Due to the rise in illegal streaming, UK authorities are continuing to investigate people and organisations using 'jailbroken' devices, which can be used to stream subscription-only TV, films, and sport for free using illegal third-party apps.

In a bid to combat the problem, Amazon recently introduced the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, which runs on a new operating system, designed to make it harder to install unauthorised apps.

Using illegal apps violates section 11 of the Fraud Act 2006, which can result in huge fines.

Not only is streaming content via 'dodgy fire sticks' illegal, but it exposes users to scams, malware, and data theft.

Where to buy the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is designed to make your TV even smarter with thousands of TV series, films, and documentaries at your fingertips.

No matter where you are, you'll be able to access your BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple TV accounts.

Xbox games will soon be available on the Fire Stick, too. We're talking the likes of Forza Motorsport, Starfield, and Palworld - without the need for a console.

Powered by Alexa, you can even check the weather, dim the lights, and stream music. What more could you ask for?

To set it up, all you need to do is plug in and connect to wifi for smooth streaming.

So, how does it work?

As mentioned above, the Fire TV Stick 4K Select has been introduced to combat the use of 'dodgy fire sticks'.

Designed to block illegal apps, the gadget runs on a new operating system called Vegas OS, which prevents apps from being installed outside of the official Amazon Appstore.

In comparison, older versions of the Fire Stick ran on Android, which enabled illegal streaming.

What are people saying about the Amazon 4K Select?

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select only recently launched, but reviews are coming in thick and fast.

One customer shared, "I purchased the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K yesterday and am genuinely impressed! The interface is smooth and responsive, and switching between apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and BBC iPlayer is effortless.

"The 4K quality is outstanding - colours are vivid, and streaming is seamless with no buffering. For anyone looking to upgrade their streaming experience, this Fire TV Stick 4K Select is absolutely worth it."

A second review reads, "After a few weeks with the new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Select, I’ve found it to be a solid streaming upgrade that delivers excellent 4K video and audio performance.

Setup was straightforward, and once connected to my TV and Wi-Fi, it was ready to go within minutes. The updated operating system feels cleaner and more modern, with smoother animations and an improved layout for browsing apps and recommendations."

A third shopper simply said: "Good video quality and helpful that it now only supports legitimate apps via the App Store. Features popular apps like Netflix, and Sky Sports channels via NOW are easy to find!"
