Police in America who found a baby covered in vomit in the back of his drunk mother's car washed and bathed the baby in a sink at the police station.

The one-year-old lad was given some much-needed TLC by the West Virginia Police Department after his mother was arrested for drunk driving.

The little lad was given a wash in the sink before being wrapped in a towel and cradled until Child Protective Service officers arrived to take the baby away.

Trooper B.R. Wood told the Bluefield Daily Telegraph: "'We made an arrest for DUI.

"The one-year-old baby boy was in the backseat covered in vomit. The vehicle was disabled, so we brought the baby boy back.

"He was the best little baby. He had just started to nod off when Child Protective Services arrived."

Apparently the little lad was given a teddy bear to play with after his wash. He's also been placed with a legal guardian under the supervision of CPS.

The mother faces a charge of DUI with a minor. She could go to prison for up to a year and be fined $1000.

Thank god the little guy is OK.
