Poker Player Lands Terrible Hand, Bluffs His Opponent Into Potential Existential Crisis

Hats off.

For the most part, playing poker is boring. A lethargic roast-less dinner with the odd minute of tension and excitement thrown in.

Are those little highlights really worth the psychological strain and gout? It is if you're a pro and your kids having a roof over their heads depends on how far you can take that 2-7 off-suit wearing sunshades.

Things weren't so dire for Qui Nguyen at this year's World Series of Poker tournament, but he still laid the fucking smackdown on his opponent Joey Vayo before taking home the bracelet and a cool $8 million.

Here's how it went down in video-form, which is a far more exciting medium:

Despite getting played like Mr Brightside at a sixth form indie night, Vayo still staggered home with $4.6 million

Nguyen, battered and bruised from the 20 hours he'd spent at the final table, said: "I just want to thank all of my friends and family. I'm so excited, I don't know what to say."

On top of the money and bracelet, Nguyen also won 3,300 Card Player Player of the Year points.
