Brits will no longer need to trek across the Atlantic to get their hands on a Baconator or a Chocolate Frosty, as Wendy's has confirmed an opening date in the UK this summer.
The beloved US fast-food giant, made famous by its square burgers, is coming back to the UK after 20 years - with two initial locations in the UK confirmed and an UberEats deal.
Will Wendy's trigger another chicken-burger war on this side of the Atlantic? That's yet to be seen. But the fast-food chain has said it's coming overseas to rival McDonald's and Burger King.
The burger giant already has more than 6,800 restaurants across 33 countries and its next target is the European market.
Here's everything we know about Wendy's coming to the UK this summer.
The first Wendy's restaurant has been confirmed in Reading and is set to open in June this year. The burger giant submitted planning permission to Reading Borough Council last summer.
The Reading Wendy's will take over the former Nationwide bank on the corner of Friar Street and Station Road and is set to open on 2nd June, according to Berkshire Live.
Wendy's has also confirmed a partnership with Uber Eats in the UK, so you can even get it delivered.
Another branch in Stratford and then in Oxford will follow. Wendy's plans on opening up 400 outlets in the UK over the next few years, which will create .
Abigail Pringle, President, International and Chief Development Officer for The Wendy's Company said in a statement:
"The United Kingdom is an exciting frontier for Wendy's, serving as the foothold to drive growth across this region."
After initial set-up in Reading, Stratford and Oxford, Pringle said Wendy's will launch more restaurants in "priority areas" across the UK, which means they're likely to be popping up in major cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and London.
"Our vision is to become the world's most thriving and beloved restaurant brand, and we're well on our way," added Pringle.
Wendy's said it plans on opening 250 new restaurants in 2021, growing to about 7,000 restaurants globally by the end of the year and bringing in thousands of new jobs.
We're not entirely sure what will be on the UK menu yet, but when asked what might be on the UK menu, Pringle said the Frosty dessert is a favourite among UK consumers.
Other fan favourites such as the Spicy Chicken Sandwich - which has been on the menu for 25 years, the Square Burger, chilli and baked potato and their freshly made salads look set to come across the pond. Pringle said:
"We have conducted research with thousands of consumers in the UK to really understand what they think about Wendy's and what is driving strong appeal for the brand. We used these insights to inform and validate our core menu offerings for this market, including our made-to-order square hamburgers."
We'll let you know when the menu is confirmed.
