What happened to man who allowed snake to eat him alive while recording the entire thing

He very quickly regretted it, which is not surprising considering he let a snake eat him

You may know that some snakes are large enough to eat a person whole, but you might not have known that one man decided he'd sign up for this fate willingly.

There are plenty of people who would see being eaten as a snake as their own personal idea of hell, but Paul Rosolie was one guy crazy enough to volunteer for it.

He's the man who went on Eaten Alive to be... well, eaten alive.

You might have guessed that being devoured by a giant snake is not exactly a good idea and while he had his reasons for hopping into that fanged maw, it wasn't long before Rosolie came to regret his decision.

Who is Paul Rosolie?

He's an American conservationist who has spent his life trying to protect animal habitats and ecosystems around the world.

Rosolie has made wildlife expeditions to Brazil, India, Indonesia and Peru, and has spent years studying snakes like the green anaconda which is native to the Amazon.

So much so that he was willing to feed himself to one in an attempt to raise awareness for the destruction of their rainforest habitat and hopefully help the species of serpent survive.

You don't see Attenborough doing that.

Why did Paul Rosolie try to be eaten by a snake in Eaten Alive?

As we said, he did it to raise awareness for the green anaconda and their loss of home.

While others might have thought of a different way to campaign, Rosolie seems to be a fan of employing shock value to really grab people's attention, and it's a plan with some merit.

You're reading this now because a man decided he wanted to be eaten alive by a snake, and if you've made it this far, then you know that one of the biggest threats to animals is the loss of habitat which comes from rainforest destruction.

So when the Discovery Channel had the Eaten Alive series, he was more than eager to participate.

How did being eaten by a snake go?

They didn't just send him into the serpent's jaws unprotected, as Rosolie donned a custom-made carbon fibre suit which would protect him from the snake's fangs.

It was also fitted with an oxygen supply so he could breathe, as well as a microphone and cameras so he could be monitored at all times.

The final part of his suit was a slathering of pig's blood to entice the snake into eating him.

Approaching the anaconda on all fours, the snake soon took the bait and began constricting Rosolie rather than just getting on with eating him.

Being constricted by the snake, Rosolie said he could no longer move and decided to call things off after he feared the snake would break his arm as he 'felt the bone flex'.

Where is Paul Rosolie now?

Sadly, Rosolie was devoured by the snake and never made it free of the green anaconda's clutches... Nah, just kidding, he's alive and well to continue his conservation work.

He admitted he was the kind of person to say 'I'm fine' until he was dead, but when the serpent latched onto his head, he said: "Stand by guys, I'm starting to feel like she's consuming me. Guys, my face is down. I'm calling it, I need help!"

Fortunately they got him out of that particular bind and he's alive and well, just recently he posted footage to Instagram of him striding through the Amazon.

The conservationist is still very much concerned with protecting the habitats of wild animals and getting people interested in 'un-f**king the planet'.

He also still seems to appreciate the merits of 'shock value' as last month he posted pictures of a giant arachnid crawling across his face.
