Dating Coach Explains Why Men Shouldn’t Split The Bill In Dates

Dating Coach Explains Why Men Shouldn’t Split The Bill In Dates

A dating coach has explained why she believes men should pay when they ask a woman out on a date, but not everyone agrees

A dating coach has explained why she believes men should pay when they ask a woman out on a date, but not everyone agrees. You can see her explanation here:

Posting on TikTok Nelly, who posts under the name @ask.nelly on the platform, shared a stitch clip that started off with a man saying that if women think a man must buy them dinner to be worth their time, then they are ‘entitled’.

However, Nelly strongly disagreed and explained: “It is so repulsive when men talk like that, but let me provide a little refresher on how dating works ‘cause clearly some people need it.

“So if a man is asking a woman out on a date and he is romantically interested in her, obviously, and he’s not picking up the bill, it’s not that she’s entitled. It is, though, one of these five things: number one, he’s not chivalrous, he’s not a gentleman.

"Number two, he’s cheap. Number three, he can’t afford the date.

"Number four, he doesn’t respect women and number five, he doesn't see her a prize to be won, because a man’s level of interest is always correlated to his level of effort. It’s always one of those five things.”

Captioning this clip, she wrote: “Entitlement is when men ask women out and don’t pay.”

Many fellow TikTok users were quick to agree with Nelly, with one writing: “You are right. Absolutely right.”

Another said: “If a guy says ‘let’s split’, I say, ‘no thanks, I got it’ and that is the end.”

While a third commented: “If you want to split bills later down the road, it’s another convo but if the guy asks you on the first date he must pay.”

However, others preferred things a bit more equal.

One person said: “Missed his point. No man owes you anything just like you don’t owe him anything. Especially if you don’t know each other.”

Someone else wrote: “Did all of you listen to what he said? No one is entitled? If a walk in a park is not good enough for a first date, then you’re not worth dinner.”

Another person suggested: “I think the one who is asking the other person out should pay.”
