If you've got kids, you might be sick of hearing the long-viral 'Baby Shark' song - and maybe even if you haven't. However, the reason one couple chose to dance to it at their wedding would melt even the iciest of hearts.

Newly-married Lisa and Phil Weeks have gone viral themselves, thanks to a video of them surprising guests at their wedding reception by performing their first dance to the popular kid's song.

The two-minute clip even shows the loved-up couple miming the actions of each shark in the song.

Most people might have gone for something romantic (read: soppy) like Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' or John Legend's 'All of Me', so you might well be wondering why on Earth anyone would choose a song that's tormenting parents everywhere.

The reason is more emotional than you might have thought - 'Baby Shark' was chosen to keep the traditional first dance light-hearted, after Phil's terminally ill dad William Weeks had tragically passed away a week before the big day. Is it dusty in here or something?

It was Phil's dad who'd urged the couple to get married before he died.

Fitness instructor Lisa from Knowsley, Liverpool, said: "We had four months to pull off the wedding. We held onto the hope that he would be able to hold on and see us get married.

"The wedding meant everything to William. When we would see him, he would be keeping a countdown and saying, 'There's only so many weeks left.'

"It was devastating for us when he passed away the week before as we knew how much he wanted to see us marry.

"It did cross our minds to cancel it but Phil's mum Carole said to do it for him.

"We hadn't got a first dance song planned and didn't want anything too emotional which would upset everyone.

"The song had been in our heads all week as we'd seen it online loads.

"I'd been singing it at work and one of the girls from the gym tagged me in a video with the comment, 'That's that bloody song you've been singing.'

"I rang the DJ up the night before the wedding and asked if we could have it as our first dance.

"He didn't know what it was and had to Google it. When he realised what it was he said, 'You two are nuts.'"

In the footage, the pair, both 45, take to the dancefloor as family and friends look on emotionally.

As the kids' song really gets into full flow, the couple break into smiles and start dancing - no, honestly, I've just got something in my eye. When the camera pans to the guests they can all be seen joining in.

Phil and Lisa were true professionals when it came to their first dance - although mum-of-two Lisa said they didn't rehearse. in fact, all the prep was done while sitting in bed watching the YouTube video of the dance.

Lisa said: "When it came to the first dance I said, 'Phil, are you ready?' He looked at me as if to say, 'Are you messing?'

"I kept it together on the day but during the evening reception I had a good cry. It was a very emotional day but we tried to make it as happy as possible."

William was diagnosed with prostate cancer six years ago but earlier this year was told it had spread to his bones. Knowing he didn't have much time left, the 74-year-old urged the couple of 16 years to marry.

Lisa said: "Phil's dad got cancer six years ago and in the past few months [he] got really ill.

"He said to us, 'You are the only ones who haven't got married, will you get married?'

"We didn't marry before because we were happy as we were, but I felt very honoured when William said that.

"He looked at me like I was his own daughter and would call me 'my Lisa'.

"He was missed so much one the day, he wanted that day for us and he should have been there but somehow he gave us the strength to get through the day.

"I really do feel as though he's set it all up and is having a good laugh up there."

Congratulations, guys. Looks like you've done William proud.
