Ghislaine Maxwell refuses to apologise to victims in first on-screen interview

Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking charges in 2021

Ghislaine Maxwell has refused to apologise to her victims.

In her first on-screen interview since she was convicted of sex trafficking charges and conspiring with former partner Jeffrey Epstein to entice minors to have sex, this is what she had to say to her victims:

The 61-year-old was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her crimes last year, which she is serving at the low-security Federal Correctional Institute Tallahassee.

Epstein, however, took his own life in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, while awaiting trial back in 2019.

Speaking on Jeremy Kyle Live: Ghislaine Behind Bars, the disgraced socialite said that she doesn't think she owes any kind of apology to her victims.

She told the show that she thinks it is time for them to move on with the rest of their lives.

"I say Epstein has died and they should take their disappointment and upset out on the authorities that allowed that to happen," Maxwell said.

"And, as I said, I hope that they have some closure via the judicial process that took place.

"And I wish them, er..... time is ticking on and to be able to have a productive and good life going forward. And that's what I hope for them."

When asked whether she sees herself as one of Epstein's 'victims', Maxwell said he 'devastated' her life.

"Well, I don't actually love the use of the word 'victim’ per se because I think it's used a lot and bandied about a lot," she said.

"But clearly my association by the fact that I worked for him and spent time with him and knew him has devastated my life and hurt many people that I love and hold dear around me."

Since Epstein's death, questions have been raised as to whether he took his own life, or if someone actually murdered him.

Even after the autopsy ruled that he died from suicide some disputed the findings, claiming that the injuries sustained to his body appeared to be suspicious.

Offering her opinion on his death, Maxwell said: "I believe that he was murdered. I was shocked. Then I wondered how it had happened?

The 61-year-old says she wishes she'd never met Jeffrey Epstein.

"Because as far as I was concerned, he was going to, I was sure he was going to appeal. And I was sure he was covered under the non-prosecution agreement.

“But I wasn't in the indictment. I wasn’t mentioned. I wasn't even one of the co-conspirators."

Maxwell added that she 'wishes she'd never met' Epstein.

"Looking back now, I probably wish I had stayed in England," she said. "But leaving that aside, you know, I tried to leave and start another new job and move on from the end of '98, '99.

"So, I wish I had been more successful in moving on…Because I'd been a banker and so I should have moved on completely."
