Conor McGregor Slams Tennis Players Complaining About Melbourne Hotel Quarantine

Conor McGregor has urged the world's best tennis players to 'get their act together' after a bunch of them complained about their compulsory 14-day quarantine ahead of the Australian Open.

The likes of Novak Djokovic, Roberto Bautista Agut and Yulia Putintseva have all vented their frustrations with the living standards and food options in their Melbourne-based hotels.

But not everyone is sympathetic, including arguably the UFC's biggest star.

After hearing their quarantine complaints, former dual-division champion McGregor has gone to town on the whinging tennis stars - and he didn't hold back either.

"I am surprised the tennis players would be kicking up," McGregor told Channel 10's The Project.

"We have got to correct ourselves here, you know. There is a lot going on. There is at lot at risk. It is everyone's duty here on this earth to do what they can.

"To get to compete in such a prestigious tennis tournament or any tournament, a two-week lockdown prior they should welcome that with open arms.

"I would urge the tennis players to get their act together and also embrace it and relish it and be happy they get to compete.

"People can't go to work and children can't even go to school. Professional athletes are complaining about a bit of isolation? C'mon, guys."

And it's hard not to agree with Irishman on that.

Even the highest-paid mixed martial artist of all-time can't quite grasp why the biggest tennis players on the planet are moaning about having to quarantine ahead of a major sporting event.

Some of the athletes have raised concerns about the lack of fresh air and training facilities. Several have posted videos showing how they've transformed their room into a makeshift tennis court.

As for McGregor himself, he's currently undergoing in his own 48-hour lockdown after arriving in Abu Dhabi to take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

"I came from a mega yacht. My yacht is parked across from the hotel, but this is inside the bubble," McGregor added.

"I brought myself off the yacht into this hotel. There is not a complaint.

"I am eager to compete. I want to perform for any fans and give entertainment to the people around the world who are going through so much at this time. It is an honour for me to do so."
