Tourist Living In Australia Shocked To Discover Revered Tradition Of A Shower Beer
A Dutch tourist living in Australia has explained her shock and surprise at learning about the revered tradition of a shower beer.
If you've ever been working a long day or getting ready for a big night on the lash, you might have adopted this little tradition.
The humble shower beer provides the perfect hot-cold combination that relaxes your body and mind.
Dutch woman Evelien, who has been living in Sydney, couldn't work out why there was an empty bottle of beer in the bathroom of her boyfriend's apartment.
To be fair, if you haven't seen a shower beer before then a discarded tinnie or longie sitting on the shower floor or above a cabinet would be pretty strange.
Evelien posted a video onto her TikTok account asking her followers whether this was a 'thing'.
"When I was at his place for the first time and I went to the bathroom, I saw this," the Dutch woman said on the video while pointing to the empty Corona bottle.
Her boyfriend explained to her that 'it's nice and hot and you just have this nice, cold shower beer', but she exclaimed: "Well, I've never heard of this before."

After posting the video loads of people reinforced the idea of the tradition but also expressed shock that this wasn't a thing elsewhere in the world.
One person wrote: "Shower beers are life changing. We do culture better than anyone"
Another added: "Wait other countries don't do this?"
A third said: "It's very Australian, like one of our best kept secrets."
It didn't take long for a beer company to seize on this tradition of shower beers (which, evidently, is also done around the world) and create a drop that is specifically designed for drinking under hot water.
Swedish craft brewery PangPang and the creative agency Snask teamed up to create a mini-bottle of beer that is 'a sweet but strong pale ale' that you're meant to 'gulp in three sips while standing in the shower getting ready for the night'.
Sounds like perfection to us.
Snask Founder and Creative Director Fredrik Öst told Vice's MUNCHIES: "We always loved the concept of drinking beer in the shower, so the idea to create a beer that would be drunk while showering was a must.
"But we also wanted to create a beer that would kickstart your night, hence a strong but sweet beer that would be sipped in three to four sips while getting ready to the tunes of 'Dressed for Success!'"
