Given the general state of the world right now, there's not much that seems to rattle us anymore...until we saw this.
A disturbing photo has gone viral that shows an actual newborn baby donning long, pointed acrylic-looking false nails.
Understandably, people are completely horrified at the idea of what damage a child could do with such ludicrous claws.
Not only that, but it seems that the woman who took the snap is spruiking some sort of baby manicure business.
The image shared on Facebook shows the mum gripping the baby's teeny tiny hands while showing off its super pointy stiletto nails that would usually be seen on the likes of Cardi B or Kylie Jenner.
The woman apparently wrote in a Facebook post alongside the photo: "I can do your babies [sic[ nails...cheap rates."
Social media users were obviously quick to convey their disgust/concern/anger over the prospect of a newborn baby manicurist, with one angry user commenting: "You're supposed to keep your baby's nails cut short so they don't hurt themselves... this is trashy and f***in stupid."
Another blasted: "Baby nails are sharp enough as is, I can't imagine equipping my daughter with claws. Hard pass.
A third added: "This is highly dangerous. Babies often times will poke themselves in the eyes or face and even without nails they'll leave scratch marks. This is straight-up stupid and will only harm the baby further."
Not only had the poor bebe unwillingly been given stiletto nails, but the manicurist also seemed to boast a number of different designs on the same tot, showing off her skills at perfecting the square and an oval edge nail shapes.
As the post was shared on Reddit, fury over the blatant stupidity of putting fake nails on babies was further amplified, though some suggested it could have simply been photoshopped (let's hope so).
Weirdly enough, it's not the first time a baby manicure has gone viral, with a Reddit post last year showing another creepy long-nailed child that has been given with a French manicure
The mum who allowed this to happen was also dragged to high heaven for turning their child into a walking weapon and danger to itself.
Apart from the obvious issues that come with a literal newborn having lizard-like claws despite barely being old enough to adequately grip something, the biggest issue is its uncanny resemblance to the monster-demon baby of the 1971 American horror trilogy It's Alive! which has been forever burned in my brain.
So thanks, weird baby manicure lady, I hate it.
