The new year is here and McDonald's is making some big changes to their menu, including a spicy new wrap and an extra options for vegans.

Fast food menus change all the time, with a core cast of popular meals being joined by a rotating bunch of burgers, wraps and various other things to chow down on.

McDonald's is no stranger to shaking up their menus with new things like the Mighty McMuffin, so named because it's absolutely massive, going on sale.

Sometimes a new permanent item will join the menu, which can be a bit of a shake up to fans of what came before, but for the most part new things coming on the menu are here for a good time rather than a long time.

The fast food chains are always trying to figure out what people want to eat more of and McDonald's is no exception, while they reckon these new year menu changes will give people more of what they want.

McDonald's are bringing out a new spicy chicken wrap.

The big change on the menu is the introduction of what McDonald's calls 'The Spicy Sriracha Chicken One', which is one of their toasted wraps packed with chicken, lettuce, cucumber and onions with spicy sriracha sauce.

This one is supposed to be very hot, so you might want to ask if the ice cream machine is working before you decide to try it out for yourself.

Honestly, this one sounds really good for fans of spicy food, and it's bound to be popular with people who thought McDonald's could do with a few more spicy options.

You'll need to be quick, however, as it's only sticking around until 14 February.

Anyone planning on doing Veganuary while also still craving a Maccies in the cold air of the new year is in luck too, as the Double McPlant burger is also coming onto the menu.

The original McPlant burger was launched all the way back in 2001, and now by popular demand McDonald's have doubled it up for people who want to chow down on a vegan friendly fast food option.

The Double McPlant is also joining the menu.

These McDonald's menu changes will kick in very soon, with the new items available to order from 4 January onwards.

There's really only one way you'll know for sure if you like them or not, and that's trying it for yourself.

However, just as the menu giveth, the menu taketh away with some items disappearing to make way for the new stuff.

The Big Tasty and the Big Tasty with Bacon are on their way out, as are Cheese Melt Dippers.

The more festive options like the Celebrations McFlurry and the Festive Pie are also disappearing, so if you're a fan of those this is really your last chance to tuck in.
