At least five people have been killed in a helicopter crash near Mount Everest and one person is still missing.

The helicopter - which crashed earlier today (Tuesday, 11 July) in the Lamajura area while on the way to Kathmandu - is reported as having been carrying tourists.

Chief government administrator in the area, Basanta Bhattarai, confirmed five people were pronounced dead - their bodies recovered from the scene - and a search is taking place to find the other sixth person who was in the aircraft.
