People watching the Queen's funeral have been left baffled by a 'seven foot man' seen walking amid the procession.

The Queen's coffin is currently being moved to her final resting place at Windsor Castle, ready for a Committal service before a private burial this evening.

The procession includes a seemingly endless line of soldiers and Grenadier Guards wearing their huge, fluffy hats, though one tall mourner seemed to stand out among the crowd.

The sight of the mourner, who wore a black suit with a medal pinned to his chest, prompted many people to take to Twitter to try and figure out who he is, with one person writing: "How tall is this guy? Who is he?"

Another questioned: "Who is the super tall guy in civilians with the one purple medal?"

Though he has been branded by dozens of people as a 'tall guy', with some even likening him to a Simpsons character, I can confirm that the mysterious mourner is more than just a tall man.

You might have suspected as much, given he's had the honour of being included in the procession, but the mourner actually played a very special part in the late Queen's life.

The man spotted towering above so many people in the procession is in fact thought to be Matthew Magee, a former assistant private secretary to the late Queen.

He stands an impressive 7ft 2in tall, and was appointed to the role of assistant private secretary in 2018. Magee is said to have often been mistaken for a royal protection officer, no doubt thanks to his height, and he also previously served as private secretary to the Duke of Kent, Prince Edward.

Magee was hired to replace Samantha Cohen, with a royal insider telling The Sun he was chosen to work with the Queen because of his 'brilliant brain'.

“He is a smashing guy with a great sense of humour and the Queen will love working with him on a daily basis," they said at the time.

Magee was joined in the procession by King Charles and other members of the royal family as the coffin reached the grounds of Windsor Castle, with the Princess Royal, the Duke of York, the Earl of Wessex, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex also taking part in the proceedings.

Camilla, the Queen Consort, followed the procession in a car along with Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
