Jordan Henderson will miss the rest of the World Cup after suffering a freak injury following England's win over Mexico.
England defeated Mexico 3-2 in the World Cup's last 16 in the early hours of Monday morning in the UK, with a Jude Bellingham brace and Harry Kane penalty securing the dramatic win.
That has set up an intriguing quarter-final clash with Norway in Miami on Saturday (July 11), but Thomas Tuchel will be without Jordan Henderson for the match - and the rest of the tournament.
The veteran midfielder suffered a serious injury during England's celebrations at full-time in the Azteca.
Advert
After England players hopped over the advertising hoardings surrounding the pitch to be closer to their fans and sing 'Wonderwall', disaster struck.

Henderson was attempting to jump back over the board but video footage appeared to show his hand slip while he was in the air, causing him to fall to the ground and land on his arm at an awkward angle.
The Athletic has now reported that Henderson will require wrist surgery and will miss the rest of the World Cup.
The latest on Jordan Henderson's injury
Dan Burn was the first person to notice Henderson was in serious pain after his accidental fall, and immediately called for medics to attend to his teammate.
Henderson was given oxygen on the side of the pitch before being stretchered off the field and taken to hospital in Mexico City.
The Brentford midfielder did not return to the Three Lions' base in Kansas City with the rest of the squad, though it's reported a member of the England medical team stayed behind with him.
The most ridiculous injury in World Cup history? This is what the unluckiest day for a footballer looks like

A broken arm, a yellow card, zero minutes on the pitch, and leaving on a stretcher — that was England midfielder Jordan Henderson’s match.

TalkSPORT's Alex Crook reports Henderson is awaiting transfer to Kansas City to undergo surgery on a broken radius, a bone in the arm.
Henderson has made a single appearance in the tournament, coming off the bench against Panama, but will not be adding to his 90 caps this summer.
He did not feature against Mexico, but was shown a yellow card by the referee for interfering during stoppage time at the end of the match.
Speaking in the immediate aftermath of the game, manager Tuchel said: “Jordan injured his wrist. It just doesn’t fit to the evening that Jordan is not with us. I don’t know the procedure, the doctor told me he is in the hospital.”
Will Henderson get replaced for the remainder of the World Cup?
Due to FIFA rules, England can not call up a replacement for Henderson, so will have to cope with a 25-man squad for the rest of the tournament.

Tuchel will likely be without defender Jarell Quansah for the next round, too, after he was sent off against Mexico.
Though, England may always appeal following FIFA decision to suspend USA striker Folarin Balogun's ban after he was sent off in his last appearance.
England's tournament has been plagued by injuries, even before it began. Tino Livramento was ruled out ahead of the opening game against Croatia, with Trevoh Chalobah being called up to replace him.
Reece James hasn't played in the last three games after suffering a hamstring strain, while Declan Rice is soldiering on despite a painful calf issue.
