Audience fall in shock as guy draws the perfect circle

He ended up going viral for his simple but incredibly effective party trick

A teenager once wowed the audience at his school talent show with a very unlikely crowd-pleaser, having walked on stage and drawn a circle - a completely perfect one, to be precise.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but given that most of us can barely draw a straight line, it actually is a pretty impressive feat. The simple things are often the most effective, after all.

Lucas Burt took to the stage to show the world his unusual but incredible talent during the show at his school in Bangor, Maine, on 4 April 2018.

Lucas later found fame online after the footage of him in action - filmed by pal Caleb Bois, 18 - was uploaded to Reddit in October 2019.

It shows Lucas, sporting black sunglasses, walking in front of the audience as two people hold on to the whiteboard on stage.

Lucas is then handed a pen, and approaches the board before swinging his arm in a confident, clockwise motion, in turn outlining an inch-perfect circle.

One of the assistants then jokingly throws themselves to the floor as if they had fainted from the shock of the mind-baffling talent on display, while Lucas celebrates his achievement.

The assistant had to be carried off stage after pretending to faint.

Lucas's friend Caleb said: "Prior to his act, all of the previous acts were primarily singing or dancing acts, pretty serious talent and were taken seriously.

"During the auditions for the talent show, he almost didn't make it because it was so stupid, but they decided 'why not' and did it anyway.

"Reaction of the crowd was a mixture or confusion and a huge applause from the amazing talent."

Clearly, simplicity is often the key when it comes to party tricks.

Just ask Paul Rudd - who shared a similarly modest trick a few years back when he appeared on YouTube show Hot Ones, which sees a celebrity sit alongside host Sean Evans to talk about their career while eating increasingly hot chicken wings.

Mid-way through the interview, Rudd decided to take a brief moment to show off his hilarious optical illusion.

Borrowing the host's phone, Rudd manipulated his hands in front of the lens, before revealing a photograph of Evans in which he appears to have a naked man squatting above his head.

The host was baffled by the image, but before Evans had chance to properly gather himself, Rudd took another snap in which he added great anatomical detail to the naked man.

He said: "After a while, you can learn new tricks. You're expanding, growing.

"I found my pinky at the right angle makes a great scrotum."

See? Simple and very effective.
