Cat 'Escapes' After Being Found Carrying Two Grams Of Heroin Into Prison

A cat that was being held at a Sri Lankan prison after being found carrying drugs and SIM cards has 'escaped', according to reports in local media.

Yeah, there's quite a lot to unpack here, isn't there? So, let's work through it together.

The unnamed feline was found by intelligence officers at the super high-security Welikada Prison on Saturday.

The moggy mastermind was found with almost two grams of heroin, two SIM cards and a memory chip in a small plastic bag tied around his neck. Sneaky.

It was held at a room in the prison but it managed to escape on Sunday, according to the Aruna newspaper.

As yet, prison officials haven't commented on the kitty's bust-out.

The prison says it has seen an increase in people throwing small packages of drugs, phones and chargers over its wall in recent weeks.

Pet Cat Hides In Student's Desk After Being Snuck Into Class

published at4 days ago

Our four-legged friend here isn't the first animal to find itself roped into criminal activity in the country - just last week cops in Colombo seized an eagle that was allegedly being used by drug traffickers to distribute narcotics.

And a little nearer to home, a couple in St Paul's in Bristol were shocked when their pet cat dragged in a bag full of hundreds of pounds worth of drugs and casually plonked it on the floor next to his bed.

The cat's owners woke up to find their cat asleep next to a plastic bag and inside the bag there was around 30 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin, with a street value of hundreds of pounds.

The bizarre incident, which occurred back in 2018, was shared by Avon and Somerset Police who wrote on Twitter: "Forget police dogs, we should start training up cats. Apparently, the owner found this in the cat's bed, with the feline curled up next to it!"
