A UFC legend has ended up quitting the sport after the infamous Drake curse struck once again on a fighter.

For those unaware, the Canadian rapper is known for having some rather large bets on the UFC, a lot of which don't end up coming through.

Because of this, the term 'Drake curse' has been thrown around a lot in recent months, as fighters the rapper seems to back often end up losing.

One of his more famous failed bets came in November, when Drake put down a whopping £1.4 million on on Israel Adesanya to defend his UFC middleweight world title against Alex Pereira.

Unfortunately, Adesanya lost the fight as Pereira rallied and won by a TKO in the fifth and final round.

Now, the Drake curse has come round once again as he bet a hefty £1.1 million on wins for Adesanya in his rematch against Pereira, and also Jorge Masvidal in his fight against Gilbert Burns in Miami.

Well, with Adesanya the curse did not strike for the second time, as the UFC fighter reclaimed his middleweight title against Pereira with a speculator knockout in UFC 287.

Many thought that Drake's curse was going to hit again, but Adesanya released two powerful and fight-ending blows to Pereira to become champion once more.

However, the second bet did not come through for Drake, as he dropped £241,000 on Masvidal to defeat Burns in UFC 287.

The rapper also beta an additional £161,000 on Masvidal securing his 17th career knockout.

But, Burns, from Brazil, defeated the Cuban native by unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the fight 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 in Burns' favour.

Masvidal lost the fight after Drake bet on him.

The result certainly wasn't argued by Masvidal's camp either, as Burns landed many heavy blows during the fight.

Following the defeat, Masvidal has announced that he is retiring from the UFC.

Speaking after the fight to Joe Rogan, he said: "I don't feel the same when I get in here no more.

"I love all of you. Thank you everybody for watching. This is where I started my career.

"Sometimes your favourite basketball player ain't got that three-pointer no more, your favourite quarterback loses that rifle.

"It's been 20-something years. I'm a multi-millionaire. I had nothing when I started. I'm out."
