James Charles is an American internet personality who is famous for his makeup tutorials and beauty vlogs.
His successful career as a beauty influencer and makeup artist began when he was asked by one of the girls at his school to do her hair and makeup for the school dance. He then began doing hair and makeup professionally for some of the girls in his hometown of Bethlehem, New York.
Since launching his YouTube channel, and later, TikTok, James has collaborated with some of the biggest beauty brands out there and won several awards.
James has been involved in multiple controversies throughout his internet career, including a feud with rival beauty YouTuber, Tati Westbook, in 2019, and a controversial fake pregnancy photoshoot, which led to major backlash from fans in February 2021.In early 2021, James admitted to sexting several underaged boys, which cost him his collaboration with Morphe cosmetics and, temporarily, his earnings on YouTube.

In 2020, James launched his own eye-makeup palette and also created a makeup line in collaboration with Morphe cosmetics.
James is also responsible for causing major gridlock in Birmingham's streets in 2019 as fans flocked to get a photo with him as he opened the UK's second Morphe store.
This is one record any YouTuber would rather not set, but following a row with fellow beauty vlogger, Tati Westbrook, James became the first YouTuber to lose one-million followers in a 24-hour period.
It all started when Tati Westbrook, who James collaborated with a lot, posted a lengthy video on her YouTube accusing James of disloyalty and trying to seduce a straight man. Singer Zara Larsson and YouTuber Jefree Star backed-up Tati's claims, which led to James losing a colossal number of followers.
James responded with an 8-minute apology video made to Tati, which became one of the most disliked videos on YouTube - not a good day for James. He deleted the video and later uploaded a 41-minute video titled 'No More Lies,' to address the feud, which garnered renewed online support.
James has made-up a number of famous faces since launching his YouTube channel. Among those to get a glow-up from the beauty influencer are Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner.
