You can buy a fart vacuum that 'reduces the stench of flatulence'.

So what is this magical contraption, I hear you ask? Well, it's a FartVac - which is essentially comprised of an air pump and a carbon filter.

The product description reads: "FartVac is the world's first fart vacuum and filtering system.

"Using a hand-activated air pump and an activated carbon filter, FartVac reduces the stench of flatulence.

Wow, that all sounds quite noble and passionate - though the last line of the product description basically acknowledges why most people will buy it.

The description concludes: "FartVac also makes a great gag or white elephant gift for the gassy people in your life."

But how exactly does this device work?

The FartVac website states: "FartVac removes the fart gas under your clothing and filters it with activated carbon technology.

"Typically, farts are trapped by our clothing and don't escape the fibres for about five seconds. This is the time when FartVac can remove and filter them."

There isn't an explanation of how exactly you use it, but it appears to all be pretty self-explanatory.

However, you should only put the nozzle down your pants, OK? Not, you know, right on the blast site.

A legal disclaimer warns: "Do not insert any part of this product in your body. External use only."

Hopefully that's that all cleared up.
