YouTuber Shane Dawson has lost one million followers amid backlash he's received after an old video resurfaced involving a Willow Smith poster.

The online star had released an apology video titled 'Taking Accountability', in which he addressed his use of blackface in the past.

However, in the wake of that video - which was uploaded on 28 June - another clip surfaced online that people found equally concerning.

It showed Dawson appearing to pretend to masturbate over a Radio Disney poster of a then-11-year-old Willow, also making a reference to her hit song 'Whip My Hair'.

Willow's brother Jaden has since condemned the video, tweeting: "SHANE DAWSON I AM DISGUSTED BY YOU."

Their mother Jada Pinkett Smith also said: "To Shane Dawson... I'm done with the excuses."

Before being called out for his controversial content, Dawson, 31, had 23.1 million YouTube subscribers. However, his following has now dropped by one million to 22.1 million.

Social media users began to share many of Dawson's old clips in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests.

On 21 June, he tweeted to say he had deleted 'everything', saying he was 'done'.

After that, he also issued an apology in a video, admitting he'd done blackface 'a lot' on his channel, saying 'there's no excuse for it, there's literally no excuse'.

Dawson said in the video: "This video is coming from a place of just wanting to own up to my s***, wanting to own up to everything I've done on the internet that has hurt people - that has added to the problem, that has not been handled well. I should have been punished for things."

He added that he'd addressed some of the issues before, but 'didn't actually look into the history of it and why it's so wrong, and why people were so upset'.

Dawson also said he's now willing to 'lose everything' if it means 'own[ing] up to all of this and [being] accountable'.
