Joe Rogan has become well known across the world for his podcast and being a UFC commentator, but before this, his journey into entertainment began as a comedian.
The 57-year-old has hosted some of the world's biggest names on his incredibly popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast, including a mentalist who left him seriously uncomfortable recently after somehow guessing the millionaire's bank card pin code.
Rogan has mixed with the likes of Mike Tyson and Elon Musk, with the latter recalling the lawsuit he had with former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson after one of his Teslas was reviewed on the show.
And it is perhaps best that he ended up finding his biggest success as a podcaster, as his brand of comedy seemingly involves shouting louder and louder at the audience until they finally break and join in with the laughter.
A viral video on X of Joe Rogan performing stand-up in the early nineties has prompted mixed responses.
Sporting what looks to be eyeliner and a blazer fitted with shoulder pads, the younger Rogan says: "Man, I've been hearing the M word too much from my girlfriend, you know what I'm talking about? She brings up marriage a little bit too much. I can't even hear that word. You hear the word marriage and my brain just shuts off. It's like marriage - click! Every word after marriage is..."
He then goes on to make a range of indistinguishable baby-like sounds before adding: "I don't think so, that's like a contract. I sign this, I can't have sex with other girls for the rest of my life and I gotta buy you a ring. That deal sucks."
To be fair, he does get some laughs, but you'd imagine that's probably from the single men in the audience and it's probably not a clip he's shown to his wife of 16 years Jessica Ditzel.
Joe Rogan's early routines definitely needed some work (Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC) While some of the bots on X who reply with nonsense these days labelled it 'genius', other people were quick to blast the routine which arguably wouldn't have looked out of place in the first Joker film.
One user commented: "Joe Rogan might honestly be the worst comedian of all time."
Another said: "Good thing he found his niche as a terrible podcaster so we don't have to suffer through his terrible stand up."
A third posted: "Wow. You weren’t funny at all."
However, some did seem to enjoy it, calling it 'so good'.
Comedy's not for everyone, I suppose.
