Jason Bateman Reveals He's Signed Up For Season Five Of Arrested Development

It's on.

After years of rumours about an Arrested Development movie, it looks like the producers have nixed that idea for now and decided that what the fans need is another season.

And frankly, while it would be great to see the show make the move to the silver screen, another series means more time with the crazy Bluth family so I'm all for it.

The cast is slowly but surely signing up.

While everyone is keeping their cards very close to their chests, Jason Bateman has confirmed that he has signed on for a fifth season of the cult hit.

The banana stand was closed prematurely despite nearly universal critical acclaim after three increasingly short series.

But because it was a fan favourite and no one was quite ready to let go, season four was shown on Netflix in 2013. And since then there's been rumblings of a film.

The original shows ran from 2003 - 2006 and starred Jason Bateman, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor, Tony Hale, Will Arnett, Jessica Walter, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, and Alia Shawkat.

Not all of them have confirmed that they have signed up for season five yet, but I doubt there's anything that could stop the Bluths from reuniting.

It's taking a long time for this new season to get off the ground, but I guess anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Two years ago, executive producer, Brian Glaze,r told Variety that he was working on 17 new episodes. And Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of the show, is said to have signed a deal a few weeks ago.

We don't know if it's going to be on Netflix again, or back on Fox, but we do know that this is the news that 2017 needs.

I can't wait to see what the Bluths have been up to since we last saw them four years ago. I can only imagine that life is even messier and more surreal.

It sounds like they'll be filming next summer at the earliest, so we may have some time to wait until we get the new series. Sob.

But let's be honest, nothing will ever surpass the time everyone proved they had never seen a chicken before. That was TV history.
