How Stan Lee Always Stole The Show With His Marvel Cameos

Yesterday we lost one of life's true greats, after news broke that comic book legend Stan Lee had sadly passed away at the age of 95.

He was reportedly rushed to the Cedar-Sinai Medical Centre - not far from his Hollywood Hills home - on Monday morning, before being pronounced dead at the hospital.

His daughter JC told TMZ: "My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man."

Lee will forever be lauded as the creator of many of the world's biggest comic book names, with his first Marvel endeavour being The Fantastic Four back in 1961. He then went on to co-create Spider-Man, The Avengers, Iron Man, X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, and Black Panther to name just a few.

But it wasn't just the comics he'll be remembered for, as Lee's influence also reached as far as the many, many film adaptations in which he made cameo appearances - both from his Marvel universe and outside of it.

Many of his fans have been remembering their favourite Stan Lee cameos as a means of paying tribute to the late Marvel kingpin, reminding us not just how many films he appeared in, but also just how badass he was.

Along with TV appearances in shows like The Big Bang Theory, Lee also appeared in everything from the Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy movies through to Black Panther more recently.

He's also cropped up in the many Avengers films - including, apparently, the forthcoming fourth film.

Avengers 4 co-director Joe Russo confirmed a short while back that Lee has already shot his cameo for the film, telling BBC Scotland: "He doesn't love to fly, so typically we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time.

"So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we're on, for instance Ant-Man 2 or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day."

Well, we're honoured to have at least one last dance with him. Bring on May 2019.
