Steve-O Got Tattoo That Was 'So Over The Line' He Covered It Up

The Jackass star reveals the reason why he had some of his body ink covered up

Stephen Gilchrist Glover, known best for his stage-name Steve-O, is covered in all sorts of tattoos.

The 47-year-old American entertainer, YouTuber and stunt performer first rose to fame following his appearance on the reality comedy television series Jackass.

From a portrait of himself doing a thumbs-up spanning his entire back to a smiley face tattooed during an off-road bumpy drive, it's fair to say that Steve-O doesn't shy away from eye-catching ink.

With a wild life of crazy animal encounters, painful-looking stunts and some questionable pranks, it's got to take a lot for Steve-O to get embarrassed.

But even the Jackass star regrets one of his, let's say, bolder tattoo choices.

When explaining a selection of his weirdest body ink on his YouTube channel, Steve-O began to reveal the reason for a cover-up of one of his more disturbing tattoos.

Dubbing it as 'so over the line', the American TV personality finally explained the origin behind the bizarre ostrich tattoo on his left bicep.

He began to recall: “It was 2006 and I was getting drunk with my buddies and we’re talking about how we never wanted to have kids – or at least I felt really strongly about it."

The Jackass star continued: “So I said OK, I’ll get a tattoo of a baby in a circle with a slash like a ‘No Babies’ sign.

“And we thought that was kinda funny, but we kept drinking and then I was like ‘oh no no no no, I’ll get 'F*** Babies'.

“But then I thought, ‘I don’t want to make people read more words, I’ve already got so many words'.

“And then I ended up going with an image of a guy f***ing a baby."

He continued: “When I got that tattoo, I knew that I was crossing the line and that was the whole reason that I got it.

"This was my crazy stunt that I was doing.

Steve-O realised the tattoo was "a serious mistake."

“But, as soon as I stepped foot outside of that tattoo parlour this couple was walking down and they were excited to see me and I’m going to show them – ‘check out my new tattoo’.

“And they saw it and the look of f***ing horror on their face told me that I had actually made a serious mistake.

"We were filming Jackass number two at that time and I kept a bandanna tied around my arm to cover it up."

Steve-O then began to explain how the original tattoo became the odd-looking ostrich he now has.

“I showed my buddy Bam Margera the coverup and he said, ‘you should turn that blob into an ostrich'.

“And so we did. I got Bam to draw the ostrich and Kat Von D tattooed it and I thought this was like ‘problem solved’."

So there, mystery solved – Steve-O has an ostrich tattooed on his arm out of embarrassment for a royally dodgy patch of ink.

The latest addition to the franchise, Jackass 4.5, was released on Netflix on 20 May.
