A Beavis and Butt-Head revival is in the works, with creator Mike Judge signing a new deal with Comedy Central.

The network has asked for two seasons of a 'reimagined' version of the hit MTV show as well as additional spin-offs and specials, Deadline reports.

ViacomCBS' Entertainment & Youth Group chief Chris McCarthy said: "We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on Adult Animation at Comedy Central.

"Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can't wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own."

Judge added: "It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again."

The animated series first aired all the way back in 1993 and centred on the titular teens. It ran until 1997 and even got his own spin-off movie Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.

The show also kicked off spin-off Daria, which Comedy Central recently announced would be getting its very own spin-off titled Jodie, centred on a grown-up version of character Jodie Landon.

According to Comedy Central, the new seasons of Beavis and Butt-Head will see the not-so-dynamic duo 'entering a whole new Gen Z world' and will feature 'meta themes relatable to both new and old fans - Gen X parents and their Gen Z kids'.

As you can imagine, the news has been met with delight from fans of the original series - with one person posting on Twitter: "Beavis and Butt-Head is coming back! You already know I'm there."

A second wrote: "Beavis and Butt-Head are coming back and this brings me so much joy!"

While a third wrote: "So excited over the news of Beavis and Butt-Head returning! Thank you @MikeJudge and @ComedyCentral."

This isn't the first time we've seen a reboot - it was previously revived back in 2011 and ran for one season on MTV.

As yet, a date for the new series hasn't been announced by Comedy Central - but we'll keep you updated as soon as they do.
