Jurassic World 3 will include the original faces from the franchise, including Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.

The news came from Chris Pratt, who plays Owen Grady in the trilogy. He told Variety: "Man, I can't tell you anything, but I can tell you it's going to blow your mind.

"It's going to be the biggest and best yet. They spared no expense and they're bringing everybody back."

The rumour that the original cast would return has been circulating for some time, but it looks like things are now set in stone following Pratt's comments.

Back in September, at a Collider-organised screening of the first Jurassic World flick at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood, director Colin Trevorrow brought Laura Dern out onto the stage for a question and answer section where she confirmed the theory.

Dern will be back as Dr. Ellie Satler, Neill will return as Dr. Alan Grant, and Goldblum will reprise his role as the inimitable Dr. Ian Malcolm, all of whom featured in the very first Jurassic Park film back in 1993.

In an interview with Empire, Trevorrow, explained how he needed to establish the best way to continue their legacy.

He said: "We'd have to come up with a reason why Ellie, Malcolm and Grant all went to the theme park on the exact same day it broke down - again. The next film allows the legacy characters to be a part of the story in an organic way."

Early last year, in an interview with MTV News, 40-year-old Pratt said that the film would have a considerable time jump and would really mix things up a bit.

He said: "When I heard the pitch, I was blown away. I can't believe they found a way to deliver on the promise of the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom... The island is blown up.

"The animals are out. We can't put 'em back in the box. What are we gonna do? How is - not only these dinosaurs, but this technology moving forward - going to affect the planet? And we jump forward, it's like, 'Oh! Oh right! Oh damn.'"

Jurassic World 3 is currently set for release in June 2021.
