A swinger has taken to social media to explain a new term in the lifestyle - a 'dragon'.
It sounds odd but it can be added to the long, ever-growing list of terms used by those in the polyamorous community.
Those online recently revealed that there are 'unicorns' among swingers, who take part in swinging without being in relationships.
More specifically, they can be defined as 'a single woman that plays with couples and swingles in the swinging lifestyle', with 'swingles' thought to mean 'swinging singles'.

On top of terms like this, there are also symbols to look out for in the community, such as the upside down pineapple or a black ring, with swingers known to signal who they are to other like-minded folk in public areas.
Not all swingers subscribe to these behaviours though, despite many who partake in the lifestyle taking to online platforms to share their own experiences.

Each person in the lifestyle has their own beliefs and experiences, but it doesn't mean that they aren't aware of any new terms floating around.
Enter, 'dragon'.

A TikToker known as @vistawife, who is also one of those responsible for bringing the 'unicorn' term to the mainstream, has previously taken to the platform to explain who falls into the category of 'dragon'.
She pointed out that she'd 'personally never come across this word before', as she explained: "A dragon is a single bisexual male who plays with other couples or singles in the lifestyle."
It's essentially the same as a 'unicorn' but for male participants, with one admitting to being one in the comments: " Looks like I’m a dragon then, nothing better than the best of both worlds however turning up solo comes with preconceptions by some."
Another pointed out: "We don’t necessarily have to be single, just have a dynamic that allows us to play alone."

These new terms venture away from the common belief that swingers consists of couples getting involved in the bedroom with one another.

The term 'dragon' can be used by polyamorous couples looking for a man to join in with their bedroom activities, though like a unicorn, the key point is that the person involved is one who 'does not threaten the relationship'.
So, no matter what happens under the sheets, the couple isn't looking to become a throuple under any circumstances.
For swingers who may seem a bit daunted by these possibilities, maybe it's worth venturing into 'soft swapping' before getting properly stuck in.
