Man Dies After Being Gored By Bull At Festival In Alicante
Shocking images have been released showing the moment a man was gored to death by a bull.
The unnamed man was taking part at a festival in Alicante, Spain, when the animal charged straight at him and flipping him straight into the air, on Thursday.
It then pins the man up against a wall and tears into his side.
Concerned spectators can be seen rushing to his aid, but the bull continues its assault and reportedly ripped an eight-inch gash across his leg.
Fortunately, one on-looker managed to distract the animal and get him away from the injured man who is then helped to his feet and led away from the arena.
According to reports, the man was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Sadly, however, doctors were unable to save his life and he died as a result of his injuries.
A minute's silence was held out of respect and all festival activities for the day were cancelled.
An investigation into the man's death has now been launched by the Civil Guard and the local magistrate.
A spokesman for Petrer Town Hall offered their condolences to the man's family. They said: "We deeply regret what has happened and offer our condolences to the dead man's family."
Pinoso mayor Lazaro Azorin added: "Pinoso feels the pain of his family."
Though the dead man is yet to be named, event organiser Francisco Albert confirmed that he was not a spectator and had taken part in numerous events in the past.
He said: "The man who died was a professional who took part in these events regularly and knew what they involved. He certainly wasn't a novice.
"The first time the animal got him nothing happened but the second time it trapped him against the steps and that's when it gored him.
"It affected an artery and he died on the operating table at hospital after receiving emergency medical attention from doctors here."
Injuries during bull fights are not a rare occurrence. Earlier this year, one unlucky matador got gored up the arse by a gigantic angry bull.
The unfortunate bullfighter in question was French matador Juan Leal.
Leal appears to have made the crucial error of turning his back on the angered beast at the wrong time. The punishment for that? A huge horn right up his jacksie.
