Costa has launched a 50 percent sale of all food items, with the offer running on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

According to the Costa website, the deal is running now until 3 March 2021, meaning you've got plenty of time to make the most of some half-price sandwiches, salads, cakes, snacks and more.

It applies to 'all food items purchased from a participating Costa store', including brand new menu items that were launched last week, with a maximum of 10 food items per customer per transaction.

The reduced prices don't apply to beverages, delivery or orders made through app Too Good To Go.

The promotion has been launched to celebrate Costa's 50th anniversary.

The chain's story began back in 1971, when brothers Sergio and Bruno arrived in London with a 'burning desire to make great tasting coffee a part of everyday life'.

According to Costa's website, they set up a small roastery in Fenchurch Street and 'committed to crafting the finest quality coffee'.

"It was here the Costa brothers blind-tested 112 variations of coffee before they tasted one good enough to be our signature blend," Costa explains.

"They named it 'Mocha Italia' and it remains our signature blend to this day."

Costa continues: "In 1981, the brothers opened their first Costa Coffee shop in Vauxhall Bridge Road.

"It was in this innovative shop that the brothers became the first coffee providers in London to serve Espresso and crafted Cappuccino in porcelain cups so that customers could experience coffee at its best.

"Soon shops started opening up across prestigious locations in London, becoming destinations for fashionable Londoners."
